Rev
Douglas Richards – Moved from the
West Midlands to Bedfordshire in the 1970s to pursue a career
in the finance industry. For 30 years, Doug was employed
by the UK arm of GMAC (Vauxhall Finance), which at the time
was the world’s largest finance provider to the motor
industry. Before taking early retirement at the age of 52,
he headed up Fraud Investigation for GMAC’s UK operations.
For 32 years Doug
has been married to Helena and they have a son, Julian aged
27, also married with one child.
In 1984, whilst in full-time employment,
Doug and his family founded Dunstable Community Church,
which has, for 20 years, remained a support and strength
to many hundreds of people in Dunstable and the surrounding
areas. As a respected member of the Community, Rev Douglas
Richards has served on the Board of Trustees for a number
of charitable organisations, both locally and nationally.
Doug’s early retirement left him
free to work within DCC on a full-time basis, however he
remains self-employed as a consultant to the Fraud Investigation
Industry.
To ONSET Trust, Rev Douglas Richards
brings unrivalled business ability, negotiation and communication
skills. Christian ethics, great respect in the local community
and many years of experience as a Trustee, leave him extremely
well equipped to serve ONSET Trust in a professional
and ethical manner. As such Rev Douglas Richards has accepted
the position as Chairman of the Board.
